Mott MacDonald has been independently verified for the carbon management specification PAS 2080:2023.
“This is a huge credit to our global teams and underscores our world-leading capabilities in carbon management across every sector and region of the world,” said Mark Crouch, global decarbonisation lead at Mott MacDonald.
He continued: “for organisations implementing their net zero plans, the fact that our carbon management principles are integrated into our internal processes is vital. It’s a continuous process of course but we’re proud of the capabilities that we have developed and apply as a matter of course. We are looking forward to working alongside the rest of the industry to help deliver net zero.”
An increasing number of UK infrastructure organisations are demanding their supply chains be certified to PAS 2080, with the specification also gaining momentum globally.
Mott MacDonald has been verified annually since the specification was first published by the BSI in 2016. In April 2023, a major revision of PAS 2080 was launched to reflect best practice in carbon management and the global effort to limit global warming to 1.5 °C.
Alongside a raft of adjustments, the revised specification was expanded to include buildings, as well as infrastructure, and to reflect the understanding that meaningful emissions reduction requires a system-level, whole-life carbon approach.
“The verification body has scrutinised Mott MacDonald’s carbon management capabilities across our tools, systems, business management processes and leadership,” said Mark. “Achieving this verification not only validates our own approach, but our ability to support clients with embedding carbon management systems into their own organisations.”
Among the tools taken into consideration by the verifier was Moata Carbon Portal, a digital decarbonisation solution that enables everyone on a project, not just the carbon specialists, to track, record and reduce embodied carbon emissions.
Mott MacDonald’s verification was conducted by the LRQA.
