Project and programme management

Delivering major infrastructure successfully.

Large infrastructure projects can be many years in the making. They often involve multiple organisations and specialisms, are subject to political and public pressure and entail myriad risks that can affect cost and schedule.

These projects or programmes are also expected to deliver a wider range of outcomes and demonstrate that the investment achieves lasting value for the environment and society.

Working alongside an experienced delivery partner enables you to select, plan and deliver programmes and projects, ensuring they are set up right from the start to give them the greatest chance of success.

We have extensive experience of acting as a delivery partner and providing project management services for all types of building, education, healthcare, transportation, power, defence, energy and water projects across the world.

  • Alaskan Way viaduct replacement, Seattle, USA
As project management assistant consultant on this US$3.35bn (£2.5bn) megaproject, we helped the Washington Department of Transportation develop a project management plan and put in place controls and processes that were considered by the client to be a template for future large project delivery.
  • Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, UK
In partnership with Costain we are delivery partner, supporting the site owner and operator Babcock, for the 10 Dock Programme and major infrastructure projects at Devonport Royal Dockyard near Plymouth.
  • International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, France
We provided project management services in conjunction with our partner Altran Technologies on the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a first-of-a-kind nuclear fusion project backed by many countries across the world. We provided all functions for the project management office, including project control management, project planning, cost estimating, risk and opportunity management, base line change control, in-kind procurement and IT services.
  • New Hospital Programme, UK
In our role as interim delivery partner for this major pipeline of hospital construction in England, we have implemented a programmatic approach in harnessing standardisation, digitalisation and economies of scale across 40 projects – with the aim of delivering leaps in efficiency, sustainability and patient care and targeting more ambitious social outcomes.
  • Strategic water resource options planning, UK
We are helping many UK water companies to think about and plan their resource requirements for the next 25 years or more, as part of the statutory investment planning process. We’re providing project management, technical expertise, environmental services and drinking water assessments that are helping to shape the development of many of the resource options, which include new reservoirs and water transfer schemes.

In the ongoing work to expand Sydney’s metro rail system, we have seen our role evolve from designer and technical adviser to trusted delivery partner, with a fully integrated delivery team.
