Recruitment fraud

Guidance to help keep you safe

Fraud

Unfortunately, fraud is an ever-present danger posed to jobseekers around the world, and these attacks may sometimes claim to represent Mott MacDonald. We don't want you to fall victim to these scams, so we’ve provided some guidance to keep your money and personal information safe.

A safer recruitment process

Don't fall for fake recruiters. We know they're out there, and we want to make sure you stay safe – so here's what to look out for:

  • Anyone trying to contact you about a job opportunity through Fiverr. We never recruit there.
  • Emails from free, web-based accounts such as Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail.
  • Being sent an offer of employment or request for personal and financial information without a formal interview.
  • Being asked to send money for visa or immigration costs.
  • Communications that rush you to act or ask you to relocate urgently.
  • Poor spelling, grammar or formatting errors in documents, adverts or emails.
  • Documents, adverts or emails that are not written in English.
  • Adverts asking you to apply directly to an email address. All Mott MacDonald positions will appear on our Careers page, and either ask you to apply through our website or direct you to a Connect People URL.
  • Being asked to contact a mobile (cell) number rather than an office.

Email safety tips

Never respond to an email you don't trust, or to any offers of employment that come out of the blue from people claiming to be from Mott MacDonald.

If there's something you're not sure of, send it straight to careers@mottmac.com, and we'll check it over.

To be extra careful, you can retype the Mott MacDonald address rather than simply clicking reply to make sure your message isn’t sent to a fraudulent email address.
