Mott MacDonald is looking for a Water Resources Lead to provide business development and technical leadership to the Vancouver and western Canada Water Resources practice. 

 

The role is expected to include the following: 

  • Participate in the development of the western Canada and national strategy for the Water Resources discipline that will form part of the overall Canada Water business, including: 
    • Identifying target industries and clients as well as establishing and nurturing relationships with key clients, business partners and competitors; 
    • Identifying project opportunities; and 
    • Identifying key indVancouver ustry events (conferences, etc.) in which to actively participate to publicize Mott MacDonald’s capabilities. 
  • Work with the Unit Water Lead to build the Water Resources and Water Conveyance teams in Vancouver. 
  • Model the Mott MacDonald culture and foster a collaborative team environment that inspires excellence and innovation and provides opportunities for staff to develop their careers and achieve their professional objectives. 
  • Provide technical guidance, leadership, and oversight to the water resources teams in Vancouver and Calgary. 
  • Provide specialized support to river engineering, hydraulic structures, transportation infrastructure, water conveyance and water management projects through active project involvement. 
  • Collaborate with the North America South America (NASA) and global water practice leads to identify and pursue business opportunities in the following areas: 
    • Hydrology and open channel hydraulics 
    • River engineering and fluvial processes 
    • Water management, including all forms of surface water flows (e.g., mine-affected, stormwater, flooding) 
    • Erosion and sediment control 
    • Climate change resilience building 
    • Collaborate with and work across units, divisions and portfolios.  This includes seeking opportunities to utilize Mott MacDonald’s Global Design Service (GDS) groups to support project execution. 

 

Role Requirements 

  • Related Bachelor’s degree and minimum 20 years of experience in water resources engineering as well as business development and team leadership. Registration as a P.Eng. with EGBC in BC and/or APEGA in Alberta is required.  Master’s degree in related discipline is an asset. 
  • Recognized expertise in river engineering, municipal drainage, transportation infrastructure (bridges and culverts) and water management. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Oriented towards the success of the team rather than individual accomplishments. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed. 
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide meaningful career development opportunities to younger staff. 
  • Proven track record in business development, client relationship building, and project delivery.

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range is from $180,000 - $230,000
Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
