Mott MacDonald Canada is currently involved in several major infrastructure projects in the highway and  transit realms. We are currently seeking a Utilities Lead to complement our team and assist with infrastructure assignments for public and private-sector clients.

 

You will have the opportunity to work for local clients such as Metrolinx and TTC. The Toronto office also supports capital projects in other geographic locations including the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. This position offers opportunities to work on projects from around the world with colleagues from various backgrounds, tapping into the expertise of our global practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilities coordination including securing and reviewing existing utility information and conflict evaluation
  • Coordination with utility owners to enter into contract agreements for the works and develop relocation plans and schedules
  • Manage team members to produce calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, and specifications
  • Reviewing the utility designs prepared by project team designers and/or utility authorities for compliance with design criteria
  • Engage as part of large multidisciplinary teams and review design documents for consistency and coordination
  • Engage in verbal and written communications with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors
  • Prepare cost estimates and manage budget and schedule for utility work packages
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Degree in Engineering from an accredited University
  • Registered Professional Engineer in good standing
  • 15+ years progressive experience in utility design / management. Experience on transit projects would be preferred
  • Preparing technical documentation
  • The following additional attributes are preferred:
  • Ability to conduct their work independently and provide guidance to junior staff
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Proactive self-starter who’s also flexible and able to adapt and learn
  • Confident and positive attitude
  • Ability to build and harbour good working relationships with our business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients
  • Flexibility to travel
