Mott MacDonald is currently looking for a Senior Environmental Planner to join our growing Atlanta, GA office. With the booming industry, we are on the hunt for the right people to continue to grow and expand our local practices in Atlanta. Our goal for this position is to identify an established Senior Environmental Professional to serve as our environmental leader in our Atlanta area office as an integral part of our future growth initiatives in the southeast. Some of our project work has included the following:

  • Regionally significant – Rome-Cartersville Development Corridor – Project includes a 6-mile corridor on new location with 13 bridges, a new interchange on I-75, and 6 turbo roundabouts.
  • Governor’s Road Improvement Program (GRIP) – SR 17 in Elbert/Wilkes Counties – Project includes the widening of a 2-lane highway to 4-lanes along a 12 mile corridor, including the replacement of 3 bridges.
  • Design-Build projects of different delivery methods.
  • GDOT’s bridge replacement program contracts.
  • Gwinnett County DOT Roadway Design On-Call – widenings and intersections

 

The Senior Environmental Planner will be responsible for leading the planning and development of environmental documents, including preparation of environmental survey boundaries, oversight of environmental special studies, and development of environmental documents for transportation projects in Georgia. The Senior Environmental Planner will also support and/or be responsible for Project Management activities, including the management of scope, schedule and budgets for environmental activities on transportation projects in Georgia. The Senior Environmental Planner may also support Mott MacDonald’s Transportation Planning practice in the planning and development of environmental documents in other states in the Southeast.
Responsibilities may include:

  • Direct the compilation and preparation of NEPA/GEPA environmental documents in accordance with GDOT, FHWA and agencies requirements and accepted practices.
  • Oversees and leads public involvement activities associated with highway and other transportation projects.
  • Identifies potential business development with existing and future clients and takes an active or lead role in the proposal process.
  • Serves as a technical expert in NEPA/GEPA environmental document planning and preparation.
  • Serves as the firm's responsible contact with specific clients.
  • Supervises or coordinates several varied assignments simultaneously.
  • Responsible for managing project schedules and budgets on assigned projects.
  • Exhibits good technical writing skills.
  • Assist in the development of business and marketing plans for the environmental practice in Georgia.

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, Urban Planning or applicable equivalent degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Previous environmental planning experience required (10+ years preferred).
  • P.E. or AICP License preferred.
  • GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP) Certification preferred.
  • Must have experience in GDOT PDP and GDOT Environmental Procedures Manual requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative team building skills are a must.
  • This position does require occasional travel up to 25% and requires visits to client office locations and project sites.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
