Job Description:

Cambridge Education, a subsidiary of Mott MacDonald Limited, is seeking to recruit a Team Leader to manage a new FCDO funded programme, Transforming Education in Ethiopia (TREE). TREE is a four-year programme (2024 – 2028) designed to support the Government of Ethiopia at both federal and regional levels to improve teaching quality and learning outcomes, and increase access to good quality education, particularly for girls and marginalised children. It will build on significant progress made by the Government of Ethiopia at all levels to expand educational opportunities for children.

 

TREE will focus on three key outcomes:

  • Outcome 1 – improved quality of teaching and learning in targeted schools, with focus on developing pedagogical skills of teachers and competency of school leaders;
  • Outcome 2 – improved teaching and learning in English Language as a subject and improved use of English across the school curriculum;
  • Outcome 3 – increased number of the most marginalised children, particularly girls, accessing education, staying in school without dropping out and learning.  

 

Job Profile:

The Team Leader will lead the TREE senior management team and be accountable for successful management and delivery of the programme in accordance with internationally recognised standards, as well as proactively meeting beneficiary, stakeholder and FCDO requirements.

 

Candidate Specification:

Key responsibilities:

  • Programme leadership and strategic management
  • Client communication and relationship management
  • Multi stakeholder relationship management
  • People and performance management
  • Oversight of financial and risk management
  • Ensuring high standards of value for money and ethical practice

 

Skills & Qualification:

  • Familiarity with FCDO programme operational procedures and requirements
  • Excellent planning, reporting, commercial and risk management skills
  • A good communicator with strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders and clients
  • Relevant professional qualification at Masters’ level
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in international development organisations and programmes
  • Previous experience in leading and managing donor funded projects/programmes
