About the business unit:

Do you want to work for a company whose purpose is to improve society by considering social outcomes, and to transform businesses, communities, and opportunities for its employees?

Mott MacDonald is a market leader in the UK water sector, being a key supplier to major water companies and delivering a wide variety of engineering and advisory projects in support to the challenges faced by the sector. Working for a company like ours, with technical excellence at our core, offers you access to industry recognised experts in a variety of disciplines and the support and opportunities you are after for your career progression. Our business is wholly employee- owned. Being independent means that we can choose our own direction and focus on what we believe is important for our clients, our people and those communities which we work and live in. We are a family of people excited to solve complex challenges that have a positive impact on the world, and we are always looking for like-minded people to join our team.

Our Water Consultancy Division has ambitious growth plans in line with AMP8 (2025-2030) investment needs and we are proud of our strong reputation in the industry which is allowing us to expand our business. We cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover.  We also provide specialist technical support to colleagues across our global business, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically complex work.

The scale of investment required in AMP8 is a significant challenge but also a major opportunity to provide a long-lasting legacy to our clients and their regions. It also requires new more efficient ways of delivering our services and for the successful candidate to demonstrate their ability to identify and implement innovations that maintain delivery to programme and commercial targets.

Overview of the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join our team of innovative and motivated network modellers, engineers and project managers, delivering projects across the UK and Europe. As a Senior Modeller, you’ll provide key technical inputs on a diverse range of UK wastewater infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to detailed design. Our senior modellers are a key part of our modelling community and have the opportunity to contribute to internal innovation sprints, involved in external conferences, drive the direction of our sub-sector at a strategic level and contribute to business development.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering wastewater infrastructure projects of varying sizes.
  • Collaborating closely with our clients to ensure they understand model outputs and processes.
  • Mentoring and training of graduate modellers and providing guidance to support their professional development.
  • Specification and management of flow surveys.
  • Undertaking a technical lead role of model build and verification projects.
  • Contributing and checking technical reports and presentations.
  • Developing technical calculation outputs when needed.
  • Opportunity to project manage infrastructure projects. This will involve being responsible for programme, commercial performance and technical excellence.
  • Mott MacDonald offers a highly innovative and collaborative environment within which to further develop your career.  We can offer development in technical, management or client-facing directions, or a combination thereof - you will have control of your own career path and great prospects for career progression as the business continues to grow
