Our Energy team in Australia has experience working on flagship projects such as Marinus Link, Project EnergyConnect, Renewable energy zones (REZ), Copper String 2.0 and large pumped hydro projects in the NEM (Australia National Electricity Market) that are essential to support the increased penetration of renewables. We have many years of experience connecting generation to customers, with projects ranging from OE roles, lenders technical advisors to detailed substation and transmission and design services.

 

We’re excited to grow the Energy Design team in Indonesia to support the energy transition in Australia, Asia Pacific, and globally. We are seeking a Senior Substation Design Specialist to establish and foster long-term positive client relationships with our Australian and broader Asia Pacific energy clients and projects. This role is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

 

Our Opportunity:

  • Support the State Energy Sector lead, ANZ Networks Market lead, and Integrated Energy Networks lead (as well as the broader team) in developing and delivering their respective business plans and deliverables.
  • Support the development of bids that are client-focused, technically excellent and value adding.
  • Delivery
  • Provide T&D services to our Networks, Renewables, Hydro, Mining and Industry and Energy Advisory market sectors.
  • Lead and/or deliver a range of functions including Owners Engineer, Concept Design and FEED. Work effectively with our leaders to bring the right mix of resources to deliver the project to clients’ satisfaction
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the work of other professional and technical staff.
  • Mentor and coach early career professionals as needed.
  • Foster a positive culture of safety and wellbeing by participating in safety leadership activities including safety walks, positive interventions, and incident reporting.
  • Act as Mott MacDonald internal Technical Lead or Project Manager – fulfilling functions of these roles as defined by our Business Management System (STEP).
  • Administer and monitor the delivery of projects in accordance with Mott MacDonald’s internal Business Management System (STEP), and standardised reporting systems and project administration tools (i.e., Connect Business and CRM).
  • Design
  • Working knowledge and experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD and CAD conform.
  • Development of substation design deliverables up to 500 kV such as general arrangement layouts, materials lists, single line diagrams and schematics, termination diagrams and cable schedules.
  • Conversion and conforming of high voltage equipment vendor drawings.
  • Electrical design of site provided red line mark-ups.
  • Demonstrate good engineering and design principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of key industry codes and standards, e.g AS2067 and AS3000.
  • Facilitate design integration, design technical interface management and inter-disciplinary checks.
  • Facilitate safety in design, fostering a safety culture in project teams.
  • Develop a clear understanding of client design standards, guiding technical teams and achieving compliance.

About You:

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical engineering, specialising in Electric Power Engineering. 
  • Mininum 10-15 years experience in substation high voltage electrical engineering and design philosophy and standards for substations up to 500kV. 
  • Knowledge and experience with substation high voltage equipment up to 500kV. 
  • Detailed knowledge of calculations and software tools to aid the preparation of HV electrical design.
  • Knowledge and experience with high voltage engineering studies including short circuit, earthing, corona, insulation coordination, EMC and EMI.
  • Ability to prepare designs in AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Facilitate design integration, design technical interface management and inter-disciplinary checks.
  • International experience in Asia Region - Ociania would be an advantage.
