Mott MacDonald is in the market for a Senior Project Engineer, specializing in a variety of structural fields including, but not limited to, buildings, water-waste water, marine, and energy.

Responsibilities of the position will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution.
  • Analyzes technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Design and develop plans and drawings (BIM), which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings.
  • Research the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Work with structural design teams in Florida and other States composed of a diverse group of engineers and designers for projects within the Southeast and around the US.
  • Plan and review the production of engineering drawings (BIM), specifications engineering investigations and planning work.
  • Assist junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.
  • Coordinate with all staff, including other disciplines, to maintain project execution and control to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through final design on the structural portion of projects.
  • Participate in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
  • Assist with creation of project scope, cost and manpower estimates, schedules, and job budgets.
  • Have working knowledge in design of concrete, steel, concrete masonry, and timber as well as spread and pile foundations and retaining/sheet pile walls.
  • Have working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and International Building Code.

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • 12+ years in the Structural design field including Project Management experience with structural and multi-discipline projects.
  • Education: BS or MS in engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Current Florida P.E. License and the ability to obtain professional engineering licenses in other States.
  • Preferred experience with team leadership and a desire to be part of a team effort.
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including organization and attention to detail.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
