Our team in Sofia has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineering Analyst as part of the Advanced analysis and design practice. You will provide technical leadership in projects related to finite element modelling and analysis, and you will work in a collaborative and international environment to help resolve their real-world challenges in the wider Energy and Nuclear sector.
As part of the Advanced analysis practice, you will be engaged in activities related to the continuous professional development of the team, and you will be expected to actively participate in knowledge and experience sharing sessions with your peers and less experienced engineers. You will have the opportunity to contribute to growing the Advanced analysis team through leading small specialists teams and having line management responsibilities.

 

Technical responsibilities

  • Perform advanced analysis and research on engineering and scientific problems, using a combination of analytical methods, finite element analysis, and inhouse applications developed for specific tasks.
  • Perform analyses as part of analysis-driven design tasks.
  • Research, and interpret, and apply provisions of international codes and standards as required.
  • Perform verification and validation activities.
  • Prepare technical reports and analysis method statements 
  • Develop and optimize analysis tools, workflows and numerical solvers. 
  • Develop applications and automated procedures for solving project related tasks.
  • Provide technical leadership to projects in the field of advanced structural analysis.

 

Business development and management responsibilities

  • Initiate and lead the preparation of technical proposals and bid documents for new project opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on projects for promoting team’s expertise internally within the MML Group and externally through direct communication to clients and participation in international conferences and forums.
  • Participate actively in the planning and budgeting of tasks.
  • Organise and lead internal and client-facing technical meetings, which may also involve international travels.

 

Team growth responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to projects in the field of advanced structural analysis.
  • Supervise, support, and organise the work of junior team members.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Background in numerical modelling and analysis of large and complex building structures subjected to dynamic loads, preferably in regulated industries.
  • Experience with FE software such as LS-Dyna, ANSYS, Abaqus or similar.
  • Knowledge and experience for transient dynamic analysis and solvers.
  • Knowledge and experience in non-linear analysis – material and geometrical non-linearities, contact problems.
  • Experience in verification and validation of models and simulations.
  • Ability to work independently in multi-disciplinary projects and solve complex tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and excellent technical writing skills in English.
  • Good understanding of design codes, standards, criteria, and design execution pertinent to structural engineering.

 

Desirable skills and experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in structural or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with vibration problems and simulation of effects of vibrations on structures, equipment, and personnel.
  • Experience in solving Computational Fluid Dynamics problems and Multiphysics simulations.
  • Experience on a team lead role.
  • Keen interest in research and tackling new challenging tasks within projects’ timeframes.
  • Keen interest in participation in scientific conferences and preparation of journal articles.
