The Role
At Mott MacDonald we perform a wide range of services in the conventional and pumped storage hydropower sectors, and we are now looking for electro-mechanical specialists to fill a Senior or Principal - Hydropower and Pumped Storage role, working alongside our electro-mechanical and civil engineering teams, and reporting to the Technical Director Hydropower. Our Technical Director Hydropower is a globally recognised expert in Mott MacDonald group and works on international projects including:
• Kidston 250 MW Pumped Storage Project, Australia.
• Muswellbrook 400 MW Pumped Storage Project, Australia.
• Pioneer-Burdekin 5,000 MW Pumped Storage Project, Australia.
• Confidential 750 MW Pumped Storage Project, Australia.
• Karot 720 MW Hydropower Project, Pakistan.
• Tarbela 5th Extension 1,510 MW Hydropower Project, Pakistan.
• Bad Creek II 1,400 MW Pumped Storage Project, USA.
• Owyhee PSP 600 MW Pumped Storage Project, USA.
You will have the opportunity to learn from Mott MacDonald's global experts and work alongside them on many of these projects. As a Senior or Principal in the hydropower sector you will be assisting multi-disciplinary design teams to produce innovative and integrated designs for all stages of project development that meet our client’s requirements and are value for money, future-proof, and sustainable.
This role will primarily be focused on hydropower and pumped storage, however a key member of the wider ANZ energy business there will also be opportunities to work on other renewable technologies from time to time. Embracing flexibility and adaptability are important aspects of the role, to meet the varying needs of the business. This role could see you involved in the preparation of proposals, undertaking site visits, reviewing designs, putting together tender documents including specifications and schedules, and supporting interactions with equipment suppliers and contractors.
About you
We are seeking a candidate that is proactive, will take responsibility for the tasks assigned, is interested in developing professionally, and is adaptable and keen to keep learning regardless of their level of experience.
You will also have:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or similar engineering.
• Experience in Power Generation or Renewables Energy projects, including Pumped Storage and Hydropower.
• Relevant Project Management and technical/design management experience.
• Chartered Engineer (preferred).
