Working as a Senior Data Engineer for our Digital Implementation Team, you will collaborate with business domain experts, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver solutions that enhance the commercial and financial management of our infrastructure projects, helping our project teams to ‘Realise the true value of information’ and deliver better outcomes across the planning and delivery of our projects. By working together, you will help solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions that drive financial efficiency and commercial success in both physical and digital infrastructure.

 

Your role will be to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and systems that support the major projects team in delivering innovative digital solutions. The Data Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and usability to drive project success and informed decision-making. Further overview of the role includes:
 

  • Client Interface/Engagement: Act as a liaison between the major projects team and clients, facilitating clear communication and understanding of data-related needs and solutions.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design and implement scalable CI/ CD pipelines to collect, process, and store large volumes of data from various sources.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources to create a unified data ecosystem that supports project needs.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand data requirements, ensuring solutions align with project goals and client needs.
  • Data Quality Assurance and Optimization: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability through rigorous testing and validation processes. Optimize data processing workflows for efficiency and performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and systems.

This role can be based in any of our offices, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, or Perth. 

About you


The role requires a bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, or a related field, along with proven experience in data engineering or data science. You are proficient in using Microsoft cloud services such as Azure Data Factory and/or Azure Data Lake, including database administration, particularly with SQL (PostgreSQL preferred).
 

Proficiency in PowerBI service and PowerBI Embedment, experience with version and source control (Git) and Azure DevOps, and software development skills in Python and/or C# are preferred.
 

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and teamwork abilities are also crucial for this role.


Nice to have:

  • Experience in Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Apps
  • Experience working with project commercial and financial data, including project controls, integration with ERP systems, and month-end reporting.
