Rolling Stock/Vehicle Specialist

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Rail Vehicle Engineer to join our team to support projects located in the Pittsburgh, PA area. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our clients and technical managers through all stages of a project’s life cycle. You must possess a strong work ethic and be able to interact well with client staff in a field environment.  

Responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting rail vehicle mechanical issues
• Managing project documentation
• Implementing component condition assessments to increase fleet longevity
• Track and manage compliance with requirements of quality management processes or plans
• Review Technical Specification documents
• Investigate rail system issues as requested by the client 
• Prepare project progress reports and status updates

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

• A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering 
• 5 years’ experience in rail and transit related field, preferably working for a consultancy, manufacturer, or agency
• Understanding of major rolling stock systems and sub-systems
• Experience testing and commissioning rail cars, coaches, and work cars
• Strong analytical skills essential for diagnosing and resolving technical issues
• Good team player
• Attention to detail ensuring safety standards, regulations and procedures are met
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
