About the business unit  
The Buildings and Cities Unit (BNC) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.  

 

About the Division 
EAM Division as part of BNC employs over 225 people based across 10 territories and 15 office locations in mainland Europe and Turkey.

 

Whilst the Division’s primary focus is buildings and cities as part of the Buildings and Cities Unit (BNC), it provides pan sector advisory services across mainland Europe and parts of Central Asia and detailed design services on transport infrastructure in Czech Republic. EAM Division offices also provides platforms for the Group to follow clients into, and work on projects in EAM managed territories.
 

About the role
You will join the Construction Project Management practice (“Conduite d’Opérations”), which is part of the wider public sector advisory team (about 40 people strong). You will be involved in various projects in France and abroad with a focus on complex infrastructure (social infrastructure, higher education infrastructure, real estate) projects. 

 

As Project Principal, you will support Project Managers in the delivery of complex projects, providing technical, project directorship and communication expertise. You will ensure that projects are delivered within time and budget and to our client’s satisfaction. You will be able to adapt this directorship approach depending on the Project Manager you work with providing support as needed. You will take ownership of contract management duties for each and every assignment under your responsibility, making sure that we adhere to our contractual rights and duties.

 

You will also serve as a mentor for younger staff in the team, supporting their professional growth. You will support the Team Leader in their duties as needed (team management / bid proposal).

 

Depending on the department needs, you may be called upon sometimes to deliver projects as Project Manager as well and as such will serve as a role model for dedication and commitment for the team.

 

You will also actively participate in sales promotion by opening up opportunities with your existing relationships and review technical and commercial offers. 

 

We are involved in projects at all scales from a lone building to an integrated city approach. We seek positive social impact when we deliver our projects. We are active in the social, health, education, sport, industrial infrastructure and buildings sectors.

 

You will also be called upon to collaborate with other teams within Mott MacDonald France (project financing, construction and operation monitoring, asset management), allowing to expand your versatility and contribute to the French entity development in an aggressive growth strategy context. You will be requested to regularly travel within France and sometimes abroad (Europe and Africa) for short stints.

 

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

 

  • Engineer in the building industry, architect. 
  • A significant experience in the public advisory field is required or direct experience in office real estate, technical design office and/or construction management design.
  • Excellent listening skills to put the clients at the heart of everything we do in a proactive manner. In addition, strong analysis, synthesis and oral and written communication will be required.

  • Able to prioritize and plan effectively while balancing competing demands.
  • A good verbal communicator with the ability to prepare precise and clear written reports and to translate them into spot-on slides decks
  • Flexibility and curiosity to contribute to a wide range of assignments
  • Confident to deal with areas and issues out with immediate experience
  • Enthusiasm and aptitude at dealing with lots of interfaces, including technical, commercial/contractual, and personal/stakeholder aspects
  • Well organized, with strong planning and management skills.
