Our Arlington office is looking to add an Alternative Delivery Project Manager to join our team. In this position, you will use industry knowledge and previous experience to manage and oversee the delivery of complex projects utilizing alternative delivery methods, including design-build, progressive design-build, and/or CMAR.  Projects may include acting in an Owner’s Agent role leading the overall delivery of alternative delivery projects or leading design teams in the delivery of projects procured via an alternative delivery method.  You will manage external and internal communication and coordination.  External communication will be with clients / contractors and internal communication with the delivery team working on the project, including those working remotely or serving as technical experts in specialized areas of design and engineering.  You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, architects, and stakeholders, to meet project objectives and exceed client expectations. Supervision of project schedule, budget, and communication with stakeholders are all parts of the successful performance of the job.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize alternative project delivery expertise to direct project organization, perform delivery method alternative analysis, and develop procurement documentation with a focus on executing large capital improvement programs throughout project lifecycles.
  • Provide strategic guidance on upcoming alternative project delivery pursuits and lead capture teams in technical and price proposal development.
  • Lead multi-disciplined teams and provide direction and oversight to accomplish project goals.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and budget allocation, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Mentor and oversee the designers, engineers and team members assigned to complete the project.
  • Provide input and suggestions on project and program budgets and schedules.
  • Ensure that project team adheres to project quality plan and follow processes in place to ensure technical accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements and engineering best practices.
  • Ensure the validity of methods used by designers and engineers.
  • Coordinate work with other managers and staff.
  • Make determinations for equipment, staff, and training needs as required. 
  • Must be able to participate in client meetings as required and be comfortable speaking before groups to validate and verify designs.
  • Lead and coordinate meetings with all stakeholders to ensure the design and construction is proceeding in a timely manner with all considerations to public safety, constructability, cost effectiveness and timely completion.
  • Provide feedback and input to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify new business opportunities with existing clients and pursue and win opportunities with new clients. In each case, take a leadership role in the pursuit process. 
  • Maintain client relationships during and after each project is finished to increase our opportunities for future work. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management, specifically in the engineering or construction industry. Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering complex engineering projects utilizing alternative delivery methods, including design-build, progressive design-build, and/or CMAR. 
  • Ability to lead a large, diverse, multi-functional team throughout a project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Ability to develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address project-related challenges proactively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
