Roles & Responsibilities:
- Planning and Design:
- Responsible for planning and designing all building services elements within the discipline.
- Develop concept designs based on evaluating various options in coordination with architectural and structural inputs, and in accordance with initial load estimates.
- Perform design calculations and quantity estimations.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all design work adheres to the company’s quality standard procedures.
- Check all design outputs and ensure seamless coordination between different sections and disciplines.
- Lead the design team to complete deliverables within time limits.
- Task Management:
- Manage tasks effectively through performance management of design engineers and CAD technicians.
- Ensure accountability, delivery, and profitability by monitoring design costs.
- Actively share knowledge and experience with other staff, particularly to coach and develop junior staff.
- Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 14+ years of working experience in HVAC design, with increasing responsibility and project complexity.
- Experience in high-rise buildings, shopping malls, hotels, metro projects, etc.
- Proficiency in HVAC software like HAP, HEVACOMP, etc., for calculating space cooling and heating loads, ducting and piping design, equipment selection, ventilation systems, etc.
- Experience with smoke extraction systems, car park/kitchen ventilation systems, stair wall pressurization, etc.
- Specialized Experience:
- Experience in district cooling plant design.
- Awareness and working knowledge of large water-cooled chillers, ETS stations, condenser cooling systems, cooling towers, etc.
- Knowledge of chiller controls and refrigerant leakage systems.
- Proficiency in DCP piping and control flow diagrams.
- Awareness of thermal storage tanks and optimization of DCP efficiency.
- Experience with DCP monitoring and control through SCADA.
- Knowledge of chilled water supply and return piping systems and controls.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reviewing and checking drawings and calculations.
- Experience in preparing reports such as design basis, concept, schematic, etc., and technical specifications.
- Knowledge in developing BOQs.
- Familiarity with local authority codes and regulations, such as those of local municipalities, civil defense, and environmental authorities.
- Knowledge of relevant international codes and regulations such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, BS, BSEN, BSRIA, etc.
- Experience working on international projects.
- Knowledge of sustainable, green building design practices and rating guidelines.
- Leadership and Communication:
- Ability to handle design independently and lead a team of engineers and technicians/modelers.
- Effective time and resource management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise directly with clients.
- Software Proficiency:
- Mott MacDonald is a leader in the adoption of BIM, so proficiency in Revit/AECOism is highly regarded.
