Mott MacDonald is looking for a funding specialist to help our clients identify, apply, and secure federal and state funding for major transportation projects and programs. The funding specialist will work closely with our Transportation Planning Practice, Rail and Transit Practice, Highway and Roadway Practice, and Advisory Practice across the country. The ideal candidate should have 20 + years of experience in funding strategy and application in the transportation sector.

 

You'll be responsible for and have experience with the following:

  • Develop funding strategies and identify funding opportunities for public agencies, including LA Metro, Metrolink, OCTA, SBCTA, VTA, SFMTA, C-Trans, Sound Transit, and others.  
  • Lead funding applications for a variety of federal and state transportation funding programs, including developing pre-position strategies to enhance the successful rate of funding application.
  • Lead grant management efforts for public sector clients in the transportation sector.  
  • Advise transit agency clients on grant management, policies, legislation, procurement, and compliance.
  • Support transportation project proposals.
  • Help to build, maintain, and grow existing and new client accounts.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Associate’s degree in business/planning/civil engineering/environmental science/social science and related field or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Previous transportation funding experience required (20+ years preferred)
  • Passion and commitment to achieving better social outcomes in every project.
  • Knowledge of federal and state funding programs, e.g. NewStarts, RAISE, SB1, TIRCP, etc.  
  • Experience working with major transportation agencies, e.g. Caltrans, Metro, Metrolink, etc.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative teamwork skills
  • Experience in supporting proposal production and business development activities

Salary Range:  $140 - $165 per hour
