Title:                    Engineer III - Rail

Location:             1400 Broadway, 21st Floor, New York, NY, 10018

 

Duties: Prepare daily civil engineering work plan packages for Consultant Construction Manager (CCM) field engineers - this includes preparation of necessary submittals, quality work plans, and safe work plans as needed for scheduled work. Document field reports, sign-in sheets, CCM man hour logs, contractor's manhour logs, and flag manhour logs. Assist quality manager with the review and approval of engineering quality work plans submitted by the contractor. Coordinate with field inspectors for field reviews, data collection, analysis, studies and forecasting important civil engineering processes. Prepare biweekly, monthly, and quarterly engineering progress reports for the project manager. Review contractor 2 – 6-week projections and daily engineering work activities to verify submittals, quality work plans, and safe work plans are completed prior to start of construction. Maintain and oversee job processes (RFI's and Submittals) to ensure reviewal process is done within established timeframes, avoiding any potential project delays. Assist in preparing schedules and budgets to prepare progress reports. Provide client assistance with monthly reconciliation of force account, flagging services, and ensure client is not charged for unused services. Participate in weekly staff meetings, monthly job progress meetings, construction coordination meetings, and BIM Meetings. Assist CCM reviewers with submittals and review procedures. Assist project manager with correspondence and transmittal letters. Ensure project documentation is processed in a timely manner and is efficiently retrievable. 50% local travel required to construction site as needed.

 

Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, 40 hrs/wk (with ability to work overtime on weekends as needed; 8-12 hrs)


Requirements: Requires a Master’s in Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a directly related field plus two (2) years of experience as an Engineer, or other occupation/position/job title involving experience in heavy civil construction or transportation infrastructure projects.

 

Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

 

Two (2) years of experience in each of the following:

  • Analyzing construction contract documents
  • Coordinating and working with inspectors on field reviews, data collection and analysis, studies, and forecasting
  • Preparing project reports and assisting clients with recording and coordinating labor services including flagging, work trains, and general orders
  • Using Asite for project data management
  • Supporting project and commercial managers with change order requirements.
