Mott MacDonald is looking to welcome an Electrical Engineer to support our team in Pittsburgh or Arlington, who will support our local, multi-disciplinary engineering team as well as other Mott MacDonald offices across the region.

Under direction and guidance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Support and/or lead design engineering efforts on an array of infrastructure projects including rail/vehicular tunnels, water/wastewater facilities, marine ports, airports, vertical facilities and more.
  • Produce conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design contract deliverables for said projects including, but not limited to: contract drawings, technical specifications, calculations, construction cost estimates, construction schedules, etc.
  • Perform all necessary calculations to support proposed engineering designs including load flow, short circuit, protective coordination and arc flash hazard studies.
  • Provide electrical support for projects under construction, including addressing RFIs, reviewing submittals, evaluating change orders, qualifying pay applications, etc.
  • Provide similar support for design build projects.
  • Perform field visits and inspections as needed during project design and construction.
  • Preparation of thorough and accurate project technical reports, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Effective planning, estimating, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of work activities, including interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Continuous improvement of job-related technical expertise and professional knowledge.
  • Supporting Mott MacDonald’s goals and representing the company positively and professionally.

 

To be considered for this position, we welcome applicants with the following credentials:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Registered Professional Engineering License preferred; candidates who have passed the FE, are Engineers in Training (EIT) and are committed to pursuing licensure when eligible shall also be considered.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the field of Electrical Engineering and Design; preferably with a focus on transportation, water/wastewater, and other infrastructure type projects.
  • Field observation and data acquisition experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive approach/self-starter.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment, delegating tasks, and supervising deliverables, including sub-consultant team members.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including technical memorandum, specification, and report writing.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, contractors, sub-consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (some travel may be required for design or construction inspection purposes).
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B.
  • Preferred skills, (but not required);
    • Basic understanding of Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), instrumentation and control systems and concepts.
    • CADD Experience; AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or REVIT
    • Power System Study modelling software experience; SKM or ETAP
