Title:                     Construction Manager

Location:             1701 S. Figueroa St., Wilmington, CA 90744

 

Duties: Lead the MPPC JV team providing Construction Management Support Services (CMSS) to Metro management for the delivery of Purple Line Extension 3 project and oversee activities of the Assistant Construction Managers assigned to C1151 Tunnels and C1152 Stations contracts, Technical Specialists and other CMSS staff in the project/field offices. Arrange for notification of incidents and escalation of construction issues to senior Metro management. Assists Metro management to appropriately respond to Contractor’s correspondence and ensure that responses are accurate and timely. Review and sign-off all final out-going letters, Request For Change (RFC) and Request For Information (RFI) responses to ensure consistency, appropriate tone, and correct contractual references are cited and assist Metro management with claims avoidance. Ensure contractor requests for change are being timely reviewed and evaluated by CMSS team including preparation and other support as needed for contract change orders/modifications. Participate in morning briefings on construction updates and review/monitor daily reports on C1151 and C1152 to evaluate daily progress of the work and report on construction issues/provide technical recommendations to Metro management as they occur. Ensure construction progress is being recorded accurately and is reported in a timely manner. Review and/or perform CMSS Staff Performance Appraisals. Review Contract Change Orders/Modifications for accuracy and provide support to Metro Contract Administrators. Ensure timely preparation of the following materials: Summary Performance Assessment Memo; Closeout Checklist; Final Acceptance Letter; Liquidated Damage Assessment Review; Release of Claims; Review of Contracts Request for Final Acceptance; As-built Schedule Review; Final Project Report; and handover of Metro Issued Equipment to the contractor.


Requirements:  Requires a Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Geology, Engineering, Architecture, or a directly related field plus 15 years of experience as an Engineer, or other occupation/position/job title involving construction management of large, complex, and heavy civil engineering projects.

 

Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

 

Fifteen (15) years in the following:

  • Working in construction of transit projects

 

Ten (10) years in each of the following:

  • Working in transit projects of at least $100 million
  • Experience with variable density, earth pressure balance or slurry TBMs of a diameter greater than 15 feet
  • Working knowledge of cut and cover station construction in an urban area
  • Using Sequential Excavation Method (SEM)

 

Five (5) years in the following:

  • Supervising or managing major construction contracts.

 

Qualified candidates much have a valid California Class C driver’s license and a Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30-Hr Safety Certification.
