Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding transportation team here in the New York City Metro Area. We are currently looking for a Senior Inspector with experience in the New York City Metro Area within the rail transportation (NYCT, MNR, LIRR, PATH, Amtrak, NJ Transit) and infrastructure industry. The successful candidate is required to understand the construction industry standards and practices in the New York City Metro Area and experience working on relevant public agency projects.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Candidate will report to the Resident Engineer or Project Manager to monitor the daily construction activities, track and report quantities, take and archive progress photos and videos, and prepare daily reports. Monitor safety and quality requirements of the construction and report status to the client on a regular basis
    • Candidate will be responsible for the inspection and oversight of the contractor’s construction work. Coordinate efforts with the PM/Resident Engineer and Office Staff. The position includes the oversight and guidance of less experienced inspectors
    • The ability to coordinate communication between client and contractor
    • Must be willing to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary
    • Good verbal and written communication
    • Pre-employment drug testing is required

     

    Candidate Qualifications:

    • Construction Management or Engineering degree or equivalent experience
    • 10+ year’s construction inspection experience
    • Proficiency with computers and standard word processing and spreadsheet software (ASite, MSExcel, MSWord)
    • Must be client service focused, embrace a safety culture, be a team player, and communicate well with multiple stakeholders
    • The successful candidate will:
      • Have a proven and verifiable track record performing inspections in one or more of the following disciplines; civil, structural, signals, traction power, track, communications, low voltage power and associated construction activities
      • Have experience planning for and inspecting construction activities during track outages and under railroad flagger protection
      • Be able to identify, monitor, and close out construction quality issues in the field including NCRs and Field Change Notices
      • Have experience managing and enforcing OSHA, FRA, and other project-specific safety oversight requirements

     

    Salary Range: $85,000- $104,000
