We understand the influence of major infrastructure programmes on the environment and society.
That's why we seek opportunities to add value for our clients and their communities on every project, and engage with people to open opportunities beyond the scope of our commissioned work. We use our knowledge to unlock social value, accelerate social, economic and environmental wellbeing and help society thrive. We use our social outcomes framework, which focuses on accessibility, inclusion, empowerment, resilience and wellbeing, to maximise the benefits we deliver.
In 2023, we proudly became the first engineering consultancy to be awarded the Social Value Management Certificate by Social Value International, a global business network delivering additional benefit to local communities.
Corporate social responsibility
We are committed to making a positive impact in the communities in which we operate.
Through charitable giving, partnership building, volunteering, and pro-bono work, we empower our colleagues to support causes they are passionate about, aligning with our strong coluture of social responsibility. We support our people to do this by providing them with flexibility and time within working hours, as well as helpful resources and financial support.
We've set out sights on being an employer of choice, recruiting people from a range of backgrounds, promoting equal opportunities and taking steps to make sure our workfroce reflects the communities we work in. We do this through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives, work experience programmes, graduate schemes, student placements and apprenticeships, particularly for groups typically under-represented in the workforce.
We only use suppliers that align with our social policies and values, and we collaborate with local supply chains, small and medium-sized businesses, social enterprises and volunteers wherever we can.

Sustainability
We recognise our responsibility as a global consultancy for tackling the world's biggest challenges. We aim to make a positive difference by delivering sustainable outcomes through our activities and to continuously improve our performance. We are committed to establishing actions and making business decisions that consider the climate, environmental and social aspects of our activities.
Our approach is informed by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. As a signatory to the UNGC, we are committed to implementing the Ten Principles and contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We're helping to shape the agenda and build our reputation, through involvement in the UNGC working groups with representatives from around our global business on climate disclosures, sustainability reporting, modern slavery, child labour, nature, climate change and human rights
We support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as the International Bill of Rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO)'s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at work.
We act in accordance with legal and compliance obligations in the territories where we operate.
Environment
We're committed to protecting the environment and reducing our impacts by developing, implementing and maintaining an environmental management system (EMS) that fulfils the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 standard and drives continual improvement across our organisation and in our projects.
