Biography

What do you enjoy about working here?

I enjoy the freedom, resources, and mobility Mott MacDonald provides.

Working in the field of earthquake engineering means that I support different sectors in different parts of the world – transportation, nuclear, defence, and energy.

There is always a learning opportunity on every project – from working with subject matter experts (SMEs) to highly enthusiastic and clever graduates with coding skills. It gives me a sense of pride to be surrounded by an excellent bunch of colleagues who are helpful and invested in everyone’s growth.

I am also involved in different technical trainings and mentoring of graduates. It’s a nice feeling to be able to give-back and nurture talent.

Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

Dr. Barnali Ghosh is the seismic discipline lead in the UK. She gave me an opportunity to try my hand at some seismic analysis about eight years ago.

I like transient nature of events. This combined with my passion for numerical analysis, solving complex problems, and taking on new challenges keeps it interesting.

Describe what the Mott Mac Life means to you in three words

Legacy, comfort, vision

How do you contribute to Mott MacDonald making a difference to people and planet?

Our projects have a net-positive impact on improving socio-economic mobility by developing access to green energy, increasing access to public transport networks and create positive social outcomes.

We actively do value-engineering on our projects to reduce embodied carbon during the whole life cycle of a project.

What are your career highlights and achievements?

One of my favourite projects to date was on the geotechnical back-analysis of existing bored tunnels which were experiencing an increasing rate of settlement post-construction. I spent many long hours on this project, but it was very satisfactory to see that the analysis model gave predictions which were still in good agreement with the monitoring data even after six years.
