Since joining Mott MacDonald, my career has progressed immensely through the various projects I have been involved in.
Supportive, collaborative and dynamic
The best part of working here is the opportunity to constantly learn and grow, which keeps me motivated and helps me develop both professionally and personally. The people I work with are fantastic! We have a great team dynamic, and it makes even the challenging tasks enjoyable.
I also enjoy the collaborative environment at Mott MacDonald and working with many different people and teams. Getting to collaborate with geotechnics colleagues from across the globe is great, and this has included sharing knowledge and experience through our annual geotechnics forum.
Geotechnics is the civil engineering specialty which overlaps with geology and deals with rock, soil and any part of a structure that is placed under ground. I realised that I would like to become a geotechnical engineer when studying soil mechanics in second year of university. This wish came true in my final year when I was offered an internship for a geotechnical consultant who was working on geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring for the first metro line in Bangkok, Thailand.
My first exposure to the business was while a working on a project when Mott MacDonald was the design consultant. The collaborative culture was one of the main reasons I wanted to work here, and I joined the business in 2014.
Since joining Mott MacDonald, my career has progressed immensely through the various projects I have been involved in. I’ve had the opportunity to grow from being a designer for one project to a project and technical principal for multiple projects. During this time, I have also been supported to develop my commercial and project management skills, as well as broaden my knowledge and experience within geotechnics.
More generally, a highlight is having the opportunity to work on major transport infrastructures with teams from various offices across the world.
Personally, some key career achievements include becoming a fellow member of Engineers Australia and having the opportunity to lead the geotechnical team in the Middle East.
