Meet some of our passionate problem-solvers, constructive creatives and inspiring innovators
I love the diversity of projects, locations and clients I get involved with; from mega projects like Channel Tunnel, Crossrail and High Speed 2 to tunnel feasibility studies in places such as Malta where I had to make a presentation to the Prime Minister.
I love the diversity of projects, locations and clients I get involved with; from mega projects like Channel Tunnel, Crossrail and High Speed 2 to tunnel feasibility studies in places such as Malta where I had to make a presentation to the Prime Minister. Every few years, there’s always a new team, a new client, a new project, and a new challenge, keeping my work exciting and dynamic.
My specialism is tunnels, and I came about it by accident. I was working for a contractor and joined Mott MacDonald to do my design year. The Channel Tunnel design work was in full swing, so I joined the team and never looked back.
Engineering/Professionalism/Rewarding
I work on large underground infrastructure projects that improve the environment at the surface and provide better transport connectivity for millions of people in the UK and around the world.
During my training, I joined Mott MacDonald for a year in their design office while working for a contractor. I contributed to two significant tunnelling projects: the Channel Tunnel and Denmark’s Storebaelt project. These experiences solidified my passion for tunnelling, leading me to continue my career with Mott MacDonald.
I contribute to the authorship of industry technical standards and the Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) publications.
With Mott MacDonald I have travelled extensively including travel to Australia, Greece, Denmark, China, Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Canada, Hong Kong, Thailand, Ireland, Malta, Singapore, Netherlands, Austria and six years in USA (Boston).
My first project working on the design of the Channel Tunnel, six years working in the USA and winning the Project Manager of the Year award on the Blackwall Tunnel Refurbishment project in London.
I am a mentor and supervising civil engineer (SCE) for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Tunnels division training manager, and the discipline professional head for railway tunnels. I am also a divisional driving safety advisor.
We are looking for enthusiastic, inspiring, and committed people to join our growing team.
