In our business … [curiosity is valued.]
Nuclear physics was a key interest of mine during my degree studies, and I joined Mott MacDonald because I was keen to work for an organisation whose values align with mine.
Now I work as a graduate nuclear safety engineer with a variety of responsibilities including commercial advisory and business development, writing bids and production of technical documentation with a focus on new nuclear development. I have had the opportunity to develop by previously taking on a role as project manager with a new client.
Working in nuclear allows me to be part of some of the most varying, exciting and challenging projects across the energy sector. My work fosters my passion to provide innovative nuclear solutions which allow the industry to thrive and support reaching reduced emissions and net zero.
I also appreciate that Mott MacDonald graduate scheme has supported my career by providing training and helped me develop soft skills and interpersonal skills.
Winning the Graduate of the Year at the UK Nuclear Skills Awards 2024. Having not been in the industry very long, it’s great to be recognised for my hard work and dedication from my colleagues at Mott MacDonald and externally.
Secondly, a university student reached out to me on LinkedIn recently and expressed that she hadn’t encountered an industry professional wearing the hijab (headscarf) in engineering before and that interaction was a nice and pivotal moment in my career.
I am currently co-vice chair of the Europe & UK Advancing Race & Culture network. I also an Early Careers Professional (ECP) Lead for Small Modular Reactors, an ECP Social Outcomes Lead within the Energy unit, taken on a role as Young Generation Network Meet a Mentor Lead and Regional Lead for my office for Women in Nuclear.
I have also supported organising offices Eid lunches, webinars during excellence fortnight on various topics in nuclear and most recently activities in relation to South Asian Heritage Month.
We are looking for enthusiastic, inspiring, and committed people to join our growing team.
