While working here, my confidence and technical knowledge in town planning and beyond has hugely improved.
Welcoming, fun and exciting
Most days here offer an exciting new challenge with support and encouragement from my colleagues. Mott MacDonald pay particular attention to the investment in their employees through initiatives such as the annual sports day event in our UK and Europe region, and a number of socials throughout the year.
I chose to work in town planning because of its contribution to placemaking and the betterment of spaces. I enjoy the problem-solving element of the job, managing the planning balance in order to find the best solution.
As a multi-disciplinary consultancy, I knew that Mott MacDonald would allow me to interact with a number of teams and help to understand the life cycle of the built environment. The graduate scheme accelerates this process by learning alongside other new graduates.
While working here, my confidence and technical knowledge in town planning and beyond has hugely improved. I have been given more responsibility across a variety of projects with the support and knowledge of my peers. Mott MacDonald has invested in my professional development outside of the office, with opportunities to attend the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Young Planners’ Conference and West Midlands awards dinner. I have also frequently attended RTPI Young Planner and Women in Planning events in both Birmingham and London.
As well as my role as a town planner, I have also been a town planning ECP representative, helping to support those in the team through their RTPI chartership. This involves pairing those who are going through the chartership process with a mentor, as well as organising trips to events and CPD events such as the RTPI Young Planners’ Conference.
