I am passionate about the wider benefits that transport infrastructure, and roads in particular, bring to society from improved economic productivity to better access to opportunities, health care, education or leisure and making sure we identify and maximise these opportunities as we develop and renew our infrastructure.

Biography

Our global practice leader for highways since 2017, Andrew joined Mott MacDonald in 1992 having graduated with a Masters in Civil Engineering from Leeds University. He began his career in our highways business and has worked on and led major highways projects in the UK, UAE, Qatar, East Africa, West Africa and the Caribbean.

Andrew is also experienced in the operations and maintenance of highways networks and asset management including undertaking senior leadership roles in area maintenance contracts on the strategic road network in the UK and having leading roles in asset management commissions in Uganda, Kenya and Saudi Arabia. He has held several senior leadership positions including leading our highways design business in the UK and our regional business in East Africa.

In his role as global practice leader, Andrew leads a practice of some 2,000 specialists in highways design, pavement engineering, street lighting, and supporting professions such as in geotechnical engineering, environmental practitioners, structural engineers and planning specialists.

Andrew is passionate about inclusive highways that deliver social equity through maximising access to services, opportunities and leisure for their users, the future of highways, unlocking the potential of technology to manage and maintain highway assets more efficiently, and providing better customer services to road users whilst addressing the impacts of climate change.
