Describe what the Mott Mac Life means to you in three words

Innovation, collaboration and opportunity

What do you enjoy about working here?

Your career here is what you make it. I’ve had the chance to develop a wide range of skills while working on major infrastructure projects. Your team and line manager are always there to support you and answer any questions you have.

Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

I went into engineering because I loved solving problems. Fire engineering offers the opportunity to do so, while saving lives and working on a wide range of projects. This includes anything from an Access for All scheme on a rural station, to a new rail line.

Why did you choose Mott MacDonald as a company you wanted to be part of?

Projects. Mott MacDonald is known for its work on a range of major projects. As a graduate I wanted to get involved in nationally significant infrastructure projects, because it is great for your development as an engineer.

There is a reason that we have been placed highly on the Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work in the UK rankings over the years. The support, the expertise, and the opportunities here are unmatched.

How has Mott MacDonald invested in your career?

As a graduate in the UK, Mott MacDonald offers the “Accelerating Your Future” programme. This is a three-year programme which helps you to develop key business and commercial skills. I have found it useful as this is not something I have been exposed to during my time in education, and it is very important while working on projects.

The business also subsidises external courses relevant to your career and provides support to graduates while applying for chartership via a chartered mentor.

Are you involved in any additional initiatives at Mott MacDonald, aside from your day-to-day role?

I have had the opportunity to host work experience students, where I’ve shared more about the disciplines that they could go into and helped them with completing presentations on potential projects. I am also on my local office Early Career Professional (ECP) committee, where we host events to aid colleagues in their professional development and knowledge sharing.
