Accessibility standards

Mott MacDonald is committed to ensuring that the pages within this website are accessible to everyone. During the development of the website we have undertaken to ensure that it conforms with level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2. These guidelines are the internationally recognised benchmark for building accessible websites.

In applying the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, this site will conform to the W3C standards for HTML and CSS. The standards are being applied so that our use of these technologies throughout the site supports accessibility.

This website has been tested for accessibility by using the following methods.

Automated tools where applicable:

  • WAVE, Lighthouse used against features/user journeys to identify any HTML structure and Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) errors and colour contrast issues.
  • OpenDyslexic tool to validate the use of dynamic font styles to ensure all font updates to accessible styling.
  • Dynamic font sizes, to ensure all font updates to accessible font size without causing any issues to other content, display or functionality.
  • High Contrast checker to ensure all content is still visible when settings are applied.

Manual testing performed when human interaction is beneficial:

  • Keyboard-only navigation to ensure tabbing order is logical and all selectable elements and user journeys are accessible to non-mouse users.
  • Checking for the presence of Alt text across the page media.
  • Validating the relevance and accuracy of alt text.
  • Zoom levels of 400% to flag any styling, content display or usability issues.
  • Additional manual tests including 'point of regard' and 'skip to content'.
