Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN)
A* performance improvement in UK schools
From 2002-2013, we were responsible for education delivery and improvement of more than 150 facilities in Islington, London, from kindergartens to colleges. Our approach transformed educational attainment in the borough, which was trailing 22% behind the UK average in 2000. Through our intervention, the proportion of pupils achieving GCSE grades A* to C has jumped from 26.5% to 74% in 2011.
Increasing adult participation in learning
The Turkish Government aims to increase the adult learning participation rate from 2.95 to 8% by 2015. We are managing the Promotion of Lifelong Learning Project to support this objective by strengthening the structures for delivery of non-formal adult learning.
Helping 25 million Bangladeshis improve their English
Television dramas, mobile phones and iPods are the unconventional tools being used to help a sixth of Bangladesh’s 160 million population to improve their English. Mott MacDonald is leading a nine-year programme aimed at teaching many of the poorest people in Bangladesh vocational English as a route into work and out of poverty.
250,000 surveys shape better learning
Through a partnership with Dr Ronald Ferguson of Harvard University, Cambridge Education delivered The Tripod Project®, a system for US educator evaluation using staff and student surveys. In 2012, more than 250,000 surveys were undertaken by students across the US.
