Transport
In St Lucia we are completing a landslide risk assessment for the primary road network. Our role includes hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment, identification of cost effective slope stabilisation options and preliminary design. Stakeholder consultation and close cooperation with the client including training and knowledge transfer are key parts of our work. We are also developing a capacity strengthening plan for landslide emergency response.
Power
We've provided design and management services for power station developments and expansion in Bermuda and Barbados. Our role as lender’s technical advisor on a hybrid energy project on for Bonaire island, helped bring the project to financial close.
Mott MacDonald was owner’s engineer for the Bermuda Electric Light Company (BELCO) for four 14MW diesel generating units and associated works including powerhouse building and 23kV switchroom. Our services ranged from planning, design and environmental studies to project management and site supervision. The design took into consideration key environmental features to reduce the impact of noise, ground borne vibration and exhaust emissions to surrounding residential area.
We provided owner’s engineer services to Bahamas Electricity Corporation for various phases of the installation of low speed diesel engine power plant at Clifton Pier. We covered feasibility studies, planning and environmental studies, project management, engineering design review and site supervision services including commissioning and testing. We also completed detailed civil, structural and mechanical and electrical building services design for some phases of the overall development.
Education
Education is another key area for us. Our specialists have provided technical assistance to improve the access and quality of secondary education in St Lucia, Dominica, Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines.
We provided support to the Government of Belize to build capacity in the education sector. A strategic plan was developed and we helped the Ministry of Education and Youth (MoEY)’s to understand the mechanisms and procedures of public policy development. The project included analysing policy, access, quality, transportation, location and financing of the education sector in Belize.
